A former Google data scientist has been named UK entrepreneur of the year at the Black Tech Achievement Awards 2025. The annual event recognises innovators and role models working in Britain’s technology industry.
Yomi Tejumola, founder and chief executive of AI marketing firm Algomarketing, started his company in 2017 while working as a marketing data scientist at Google.
The London-headquartered business now employs more than 200 people around the world and is on track to turn over £150m by 2030. More than half (57%) of Algomarketing’s board are also from a non-white background.

The winners of the awards were judged by prominent figures from the tech industry inculding Tim Yaw Stuthers, head of programme brands at Sky Studios, and Dr Rashada Harry, enterprise technologist at Amazon Web Services.
Mr Tejumola, who was named among Britain’s most ambitious bosses last year, said: “This recognition is testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Algomarketing team.
“Our mission has always been to empower professionals with AI and automation, transforming enterprise teams into a new era of evolved workers where colleagues are freed up from the monotony of manual tasks and admin to reignite their passion for work.”
He added: “This award reinforces our ability to help teams move faster, work smarter and become more data-driven, while continuously upskilling our talent to integrate the latest advancements in technology and ultimately providing a renewed sense of purpose at work.”
The UK Black Tech Achievement (BTA) Awards have been running since 2019.
